Post Bank has issued an apology for the delay in social grants payments and expressed its regret for the inconvenience caused to SASSA beneficiaries. The delay was a result of intermittent technical issues that affected the ability of some beneficiaries to withdraw funds from ATMs and retailers on September 5.
In their statement, Post Bank acknowledged the frustration experienced by SASSA beneficiaries and assured them that they are working tirelessly to resolve the technical issues. They emphasized that they are committed to finding a solution as quickly as possible to ensure that all beneficiaries can access their funds without any further delays. They promised to provide updates as soon as the technical issue is resolved.
The delay in social grant payments has caused distress, especially for senior citizens who rely on these funds for their daily needs. Johannes Mahlangu, a resident, expressed sadness at seeing senior citizens stranded and running to banks and retailers without success in receiving their payments.
NOTE: It is important to note that while the technical challenges impacted withdrawals from ATMs and retailers but social grant payment transactions via SASSA gold cards within Post Office branches were not affected. This means that beneficiaries can still access their funds by visiting Post Office branches.
