SASSA Payment Dates for 2024 – 25 (Ever Month) Updates

SASSA Grant is only for those individuals who are either mentally or physically disabled, or have some other issues as per the requirement of the SASSA welfare Program, and can only be eligible to get SASSA Payments.

Different Types of SASSA Grants and Their Payments

There exist different types of SASSA grants including the Old Persons Grant, Disability Grant, Child Support Grant, Foster Child Grant, Care Dependency Grant, and War Veterans Grant. The eligibility requirements and application process for each grant may vary depending on your specific circumstances.

Child Support Grant

If you are the primary caregiver of a child in need, you may be eligible for a grant from the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA). You will need to pass a means test and be responsible for the child’s care. You will receive R500 per month for each child you care for, or R750 per month for each orphaned child you care for.

Foster Child Support

The foster child support grant is a monthly payment of R1,120 per child that is available to foster parents who care for a child in need. To qualify for this grant, you must be a registered foster parent and provide proof of your foster parent status. You will also need to pass the means test.

The grant is intended to help cover the cost of caring for the child’s basic needs, such as food, clothing, and shelter. In addition to the grant, foster parents may also receive other forms of support, such as training and counseling, to help them provide the best possible care for the child.

Care Dependency Grant

The Care Dependency Grant is a monthly payment of R2,080 per child that is available to individuals who are caring for children with severe disabilities who require full-time and special care. The grant is intended to help cover the cost of caring for the child’s basic needs, such as food, clothing, and shelter, as well as any additional medical or therapeutic expenses that may be required.

To qualify for this grant, you must provide proof of the child’s disability and pass the means test. The grant is available to children from birth until they reach the legal age of 18, but may be extended in certain cases.

SRD Grant

The Social Relief Distress (SRD) Grant is a monthly payment of R350 that is available to South African citizens, asylum seekers, refugees, and unique permit holders who are between the ages of 18 and 60. This grant is intended to provide temporary relief to individuals who are experiencing financial distress due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

To qualify for this grant, the applicant must not have the necessary means to support themselves or their dependents, must not be receiving any other social grants or UIF payments, and must not have any other financial support from any other source. The grant is intended to help cover the cost of basic needs, such as food, clothing, and shelter. The grant is available for a limited period, and applicants must reapply to continue receiving the grant.

Disability Grant

If you have either a mental or physical disability then you will be eligible for Disability Grant. Here disability grant is divided into categories.

1. Temporary Disability Grant
2. Permanent Disability Grant

A temporary Disability Grant is available for individuals having a disability for more than 6 Months and less than a Year.

A permanent Disability Grant is available for individuals having a disability of more than one Year. If your status meets any of the above disability criteria then you can apply for the disability Grant. The maximum payout that you can receive for Disability Grant is R2,080.

Pensioners Grant

The Pensioners Grant/Old Age Grant is intended for individuals who are 60 years or above and can no longer work and earn money. Those between the ages of 60 and 75 will receive R2,080 per month, while those aged more than 75 will receive R2,100 per month. The grant is intended to help cover the cost of basic needs, such as food, clothing, and shelter, and is paid out every month.

War Veteran’s Grant

This Grant is only provided to former soldiers who have contributed to any Past War including the Second World Warr, and the Korean War) and now due to some mishaps, they are unable to support themselves. They will be eligible to get the amount of R2,100.

Grant in Aid

This is an additional grant provided to those already receiving Social Grants. The purpose of this grant is to provide full-time care to the individuals and its amount is R500 per month.

Payment Options Available to Get SASSA Grant

There are many options available to Get the SASSA Payments including:

Bank Transfer

SASSA beneficiaries with a bank account can receive their grant payments via bank transfer. Their payments are usually made on the first day of the month for most grants. However, the payment date may vary depending on weekends and public holidays, so it’s best to confirm the exact date with your bank.

SASSA Card

If you do not have a Bank Account then you can withdraw your SASSA Grant Payments using SASSA Card from any ATM near you. Further, you can also make online payments and Purchases using your SASSA special Debit Card.

Cash Payments

If you are unable to get SASSA Payments using both the above methods then you will be eligible to get the SASSA Grant using the Cash payment method. You can get these cash payments at designated pay points.
